If you lead revenue at a growing B2B company, HubSpot Service Hub is the part of HubSpot that handles what happens after the sale: customer questions, problems and requests. It puts every customer support conversation, ticket and help article on the same customer record your sales and marketing teams already use.

This guide is for CEOs, founders, CROs and the revenue leaders who own customer support operations alongside sales and marketing. You will learn what Service Hub includes, how a request moves through it, how it differs from Sales Hub and Marketing Hub, and what it takes to set up well.

| **HubSpot Service Hub** HubSpot Service Hub is customer service software on the HubSpot platform that gives support teams a help desk, ticketing, a knowledge base, customer feedback surveys and a customer portal tied to the CRM. |

## What HubSpot Service Hub includes

![Screenshot of the HubSpot Service Hub product page showing the help desk workspace, omnichannel communication, call tracking, SLA management, service analytics and automated customer service.](https://www.finemediabw.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog/HubSpot%20Services/Awareness/What%20Is%20HubSpot%20Service%20Hub%20A%20Guide%20for%20B2B%20Revenue%20Teams/hs02-service-hub-product-page-blog-1600x900.png?width=1600&height=900&name=hs02-service-hub-product-page-blog-1600x900.png)

HubSpot describes its service software as a way to deliver personalized, omnichannel customer support at scale with an AI-powered help desk and ticketing workspace. In practice, that breaks into a handful of parts that work from one record.

The parts you will use most are listed below.

- **Help desk workspace.** Use help desk to consolidate your support process and manage multiple support channels from a single workspace.
- **Tickets.** Each customer issue becomes a ticket you can assign, track and close.
- **Knowledge base.** Customers find answers on their own, so fewer questions reach your team.
- **Customer feedback.** Surveys measure how customers feel about their experience.
- **Customer portal.** A login-protected space where customers can see and manage their own tickets.
- **Customer success workspace.** A place to manage your book of business and build customer health scores.

You do not need all of them on day one. Most teams start with the help desk and tickets, then add self-service and feedback once the basics hold.

Because every part reads from one record, your support team, sales team and marketing team work from the same page. They get a complete view of each customer's history and a unified view of the customer journey, from first purchase to renewal.

## How the help desk and ticketing system work

A ticketing system gives every customer issue an owner, a status and a history. In Service Hub, that system is built into the help desk. HubSpot's own documentation says that when a customer has a support query, you can create a ticket record, log interactions related to it and track the ticket through pipeline statuses.

### Tickets and the ticket pipeline

A ticket pipeline is the set of stages a request passes through, from new to waiting to closed. You choose the pipeline stages that match how your team works, and each ticket sits in exactly one stage at a time. That makes it easy to see what is stuck.

Ticket properties hold the details: who raised it, what it concerns, how urgent it is and who owns it. Because they are CRM properties, you can report on them and use them in workflows, the same way you would a deal property.

### Where incoming tickets come from

Incoming tickets can arrive from several places. You can create tickets manually, and tickets are created by default from channels you connect to the help desk, such as email, chat and forms. An email sent to a connected support address becomes a ticket on its own, which cuts manual data entry. A shared inbox view means your support agents see the same queue and the same conversation history.

### Automated ticket routing

Automated ticket routing sends each request to the right person without a manager doing it by hand. HubSpot's help desk offers distribution options such as load balanced and round robin. Load balanced gives new tickets to the user with the fewest open tickets, which keeps the work even.

Smart routing can also assign tickets by channel and by agent availability, so each team member gets a fair share. Good routing shortens response time because requests stop waiting in a queue for someone to notice them. It also stops the same two people from absorbing every difficult ticket.

Service level agreements set the response and resolution targets a team commits to. HubSpot lists SLA management among its service features, tied to automated ticket routing, so the targets and the queue live in one place.

## How a customer request moves through Service Hub

![One route through six steps in three stages: the email becomes a ticket and is routed, an agent resolves it from the full history, then a survey and a help article follow.](https://www.finemediabw.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog/HubSpot%20Services/Awareness/What%20Is%20HubSpot%20Service%20Hub%20A%20Guide%20for%20B2B%20Revenue%20Teams/hs02-support-request-path-blog-1600x900.png?width=1600&height=900&name=hs02-support-request-path-blog-1600x900.png)

A request follows a path, and the path is where most support problems hide. Picture a customer emailing about a failed integration.

The email lands in the help desk and becomes a ticket. Routing assigns it to an agent. The agent reads the full customer history on the contact record, replies from the same workspace and moves the ticket through its stages. When it is resolved, a survey can go out and the answer can become a help article.

Every step leaves a trace on the customer record. That trace is what lets a sales rep see an open problem before a renewal call, and what lets marketing keep a frustrated customer off a promotional email.

## Customer communication and personalized support

Support is a conversation, and customers judge it by how well it follows them from channel to channel. Because conversations sit on the customer record, an agent can read earlier messages before replying, so the customer does not have to repeat themselves.

That is what makes personalized service possible. Agents see who the customer is, what they bought and what they asked before, then answer with the right context. Email templates help with repeat questions, but a real person should still read each reply before it goes out, because templates only save time when they fit.

Good customer interaction data also helps you offer personalized support at scale. You can see which customer inquiries repeat, which customer requests need a specialist and where the handoff to another team slows things down.

## Knowledge base and self-service

A knowledge base is a library of articles that answer common questions. HubSpot's documentation says the purpose is to help your customers resolve issues independently and deflect queries from your support team. Articles let visitors find organized, self-service information without contacting your team.

The strongest knowledge base articles come from real tickets. When the same question reaches the help desk three times, that is a signal to write the answer once and link it from every reply.

A customer portal extends the idea. HubSpot describes a support portal as a login-protected space where customers can access and manage their support tickets, so they can check progress without writing in again.

## Customer feedback and the customer experience

Service Hub includes customer feedback surveys so you hear from customers in their own words and scores. HubSpot's tool covers three standard types, each measuring something different.

- **Customer satisfaction (CSAT).** How satisfied a customer is with a product, service or experience.
- **Net promoter score (NPS).** How customers feel about the relationship with your company overall.
- **Customer effort score (CES).** HubSpot says it measures the ease of a customer's support experience, on a seven-point scale.

Survey answers are stored on the contact record, so a low score can trigger a follow up task for the account owner. That closes the loop between service and the rest of the business, and it shows how customer satisfaction is changing across your customer relationships.

## Reports that show team performance and faster resolutions

HubSpot says its out-of-the-box reports help you measure team performance. For a support leader, the useful measures are response time, resolution time and ticket volume, read by channel, by agent and by ticket type. Built-in analytics also help you spot trends in customer inquiries, which supports data-driven decisions about staffing and content.

Watch ticket volume to see where self-service is failing, and watch resolution time to find the stage where tickets stall. Faster resolutions usually come from fixing one of those two things, not from asking agents to work harder.

## AI and automation in customer service software

HubSpot positions automation as a way to help your team solve customer issues faster, with AI-powered tools that handle routine tasks and support requests. Its Customer Agent is described as resolving customer inquiries across email and live chat around the clock with customizable AI automation.

The direction matches what service leaders report. Salesforce's [State of Service report](https://www.salesforce.com/resources/research-reports/state-of-service/), a 2025 survey of 6,500 service professionals, found that 79% of service leaders believe investing in AI agents is fundamental to meeting current business demands.

Intelligent automation and more advanced features are worth adding only after the basics work. Automation reduces repetitive tasks, so support agents can spend their time on complex problems. It works best on routine, well-documented questions. Keep a person on anything sensitive or unclear, and make sure the AI draws from a knowledge base your team actually maintains.

## How Service Hub differs from Sales Hub and Marketing Hub

![Three overlapping groups, Marketing Hub, Sales Hub and Service Hub, with the same CRM as the shared region.](https://www.finemediabw.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog/HubSpot%20Services/Awareness/What%20Is%20HubSpot%20Service%20Hub%20A%20Guide%20for%20B2B%20Revenue%20Teams/hs02-three-hubs-one-record-venn-blog-1600x900.png?width=1600&height=900&name=hs02-three-hubs-one-record-venn-blog-1600x900.png)

HubSpot organizes its software into hubs on one platform. Sales Hub is built to help reps move deals forward, and Marketing Hub is where your CRM, content and campaigns work together. Service Hub covers the customers you already have.

The difference is the job each one does, not the data. All three read and write to the same CRM, so a contact is one person across every team. If you want the wider picture, our guide to [what HubSpot is](https://www.finemediabw.com/blog/what-is-hubspot) explains how the hubs fit together.

| Hub | Main job | Typical user |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Marketing Hub | Attract and convert prospects | Marketers |
| Sales Hub | Move deals to close | Sales reps |
| Service Hub | Support and keep customers | Customer service reps and success managers |

## Service Hub and customer success

Service Hub also reaches into customer success, the work of making sure customers get value after they buy. Its customer success workspace lets managers organize accounts, build customer health scores and prioritize their activity.

Proactive customer management aims to reduce churn and improve retention, and the same record that holds tickets and health scores supports it. Support answers the question a customer asks today. Customer success watches the relationship over time. If you are deciding how those two functions should share data and ownership, [customer success operations](https://www.finemediabw.com/blog/customer-success-operations) covers the operating model.

## Who Service Hub is for

Service Hub suits B2B companies where support, success and sales all touch the same accounts. It is a good fit when:

- Customers email several people, and nobody sees the whole conversation.
- Sales learns about a customer problem from the customer, not from the system.
- Renewal conversations start without any view of recent tickets.
- Support runs in a separate tool whose data never reaches the CRM.

Growing teams and small teams can both start here, because the setup scales with the number of channels and agents. It is a weaker fit if your support volume is tiny and a shared mailbox genuinely works. Start with the problem, not the product.

## What you gain when this is done properly

Service Hub earns its place when it is set up around how your teams really work: clean ticket pipelines, clear routing rules and a knowledge base that someone owns. Then each team gains something specific.

### Sales

Reps see open tickets and recent feedback on the account before they call. They avoid pitching an upgrade to a customer who is angry about an unresolved issue, and they spot expansion signals in support questions.

### Marketing

Marketing uses support themes to decide what to publish and which customers to leave out of campaigns. Common ticket topics become articles, guides and onboarding emails that answer questions before they are asked.

### Customer success

Customer success gets one record that holds tickets, survey answers and health signals. Managers can see which accounts are at risk, follow up with the right context and prove the value of the relationship at renewal.

## How to start without overbuilding

A HubSpot implementation that includes service should follow the same logic as the rest of the build. Begin with one support channel, one ticket pipeline and a short list of ticket properties you will actually report on.

Decide who owns routing and who owns the knowledge base. Then add surveys and automation once the queue is under control. Review support processes every quarter so they keep matching how your business works.

Most failed rollouts copy a complicated process from an old tool. A simpler design that people follow beats a thorough one they work around.

## Frequently asked questions

What is HubSpot Service Hub used for?

Service Hub is used to run customer support operations after the sale. Teams use it to receive requests through a help desk, track them as tickets, publish help articles, collect customer feedback and manage customer success, all connected to the same CRM records that sales and marketing use.

 Is Service Hub a CRM?

Service Hub is not a separate CRM. It is one hub on the HubSpot platform and works on the shared HubSpot CRM, so contacts, companies and tickets sit on the same records that Sales Hub and Marketing Hub use. That shared record is the main reason to choose it.

How do you create a HubSpot knowledge base?

In your HubSpot account, go to Service, then Knowledge Base, and choose to create an article. Enter a title and subtitle, write the body and publish. HubSpot's documentation says an assigned Service Hub seat is required to create and customize knowledge base articles.

 Does HubSpot have live chat?

Yes. HubSpot lets you add chat to your website with chatflows, and conversations can route to the help desk or the shared inbox. Its Customer Agent can also answer customer inquiries over email and live chat around the clock using customizable AI automation.

How much does HubSpot Service Hub cost?

Cost depends on the plan and the number of seats you need, and HubSpot sets and updates its prices on its own pricing page, so check there for current figures. Before you buy, list the channels, users and automation you need, because those drive the total.
